Christmas Unwrapped: Why I No Longer Celebrate Christmas

To the average person, not much thought is given into why they do what they do, or why they believe what they believe. Most just go with the ebb and flow of society and culture, not questioning the traditions that they uphold.

The moment we begin to question something, we are confronted with two possible outcomes. One, if the information goes against everything that we were taught to believe was true, we set our hearts and minds to accept it and not to continue on in a lie. Two, if the information goes against everything that we were taught to believe was true, we set our hearts and minds to reject it, and continue on in a lie. To question why, and then act upon the outcome of that answer in the light of the truth, takes a great amount of fortitude and meekness. As followers of Christ, we are to uphold the truth, even if that makes us uncomfortable, and even if that means losing friends and family. This is the cost of following Yeshua/Jesus. This is what it means to worship Him in Spirit and in Truth. (Joh 4:23-24)

Under Every Green Tree

Trees and groves have been objects of worship through many centuries and many cultures. It has been believed that trees contain sacred energy and represented gods and goddesses of pagan religions. Within the Scriptures you will often find tree worship associated with the fertility goddess Asherah. Continue reading “Under Every Green Tree”

Hanukkah: Saturn Worship, gambling and the Dreidel

In a previous post I wrote, Purim Unmasked, I mentioned that we attended a Messianic congregation for a year starting in 2015. In that year we were introduced to not only to Purim, but also Hanukkah.  In lieu of Hanukah, I find that people will forsake one aspect of something, only to accept it again through a different veneer.  Many, giving up their Christmas traditions to then embrace them again through Hanukkah.

As I have previously stated, if traditions are rooted in paganism, or doctrines of men, then they should be forsaken. These are not my rules, but Yah’s.

Deuteronomy 12:30…Do not inquire about their gods, asking, “How do these nations serve their gods? I will do likewise.” 31You must not worship the LORD(YHWH) your God in this way, because they practice for their gods every abomination which the LORD(YHWH) hates. They even burn their sons and daughters in the fire as sacrifices to their gods.(BSB)

So, what traditions are associated with this festival, are they approved by Yah, or are they repackaged traditions from the pagan festival Saturnalia?

Purim Unmasked

A few years back(2015) we attended a Messianic congregation, roughly on and off for a year. In that time we were formally introduced to the celebration of Purim. For those who don’t know, Purim is supposed to be based upon the book of Esther.  However,  what traditions are associated with this festival, and is it approved by God?
