Is the passage Genesis 12:3 ‘I shall bless those who bless you, and curse him who curses you’ in regards to a physical land called ‘Israel’ and a people who for the majority deny the Son as the Messiah?
This passage is often used out of context to bless a nation that is not Scripturally the Nation of Israel, nor are they Scripturally Yah’s people. Many people have been so conditioned and deceived by this passage as well as many others, to include “The Apple of Yah’s Eye” that many, when confronted with the Scriptures, can no longer function, and refer to verbal assaults, and accusations.
Scripture interprets Scripture, and this passage was in fulfillment to those who are born again of the Spiritual Seed(Messiah) and come into faith. Not to a nation that as a whole deny the Son, which ultimately denies the Father. Those who deny the Son, are considered liars, and all liars have their place in the lake of fire(Rev 21:8).
1 John 2:22Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son. 23Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: (but) he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also. 24Let that therefore abide in you, which ye have heard from the beginning. If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, ye also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father.(KJV)
So, let us go to the passage in question:
Gen 12:2“And I shall make you a great nation, and bless you and make your name great, and you shall be a blessing!
3“And I shall bless those who bless you, and curse him who curses you. And IN YOU ALL THE CLANS OF THE EARTH SHALL BE BLESSED.”
Does this say “and in Israel all the clans of the earth shall be blessed?” When Israel, or Jacob had not even been established yet? No. It says that in ABRAHAM all the clans of the earth shall be blessed. Why? Because the root of faith begins with Abraham, and those of the belief are the sons of Abraham.
•Gal 3:6Even so Aḇraham “did believe Elohim, and it was reckoned unto him as righteousness.”
7Know, then, that those who are of belief are sons of Aḇraham.
8AND THE SCRIPTURE, HAVING FORESEEN THAT ELOHIM WOULD DECLARE RIGHT THE NATIONS BY BELIEF, ANNOUNCED THE GOOD NEWS TO ABRAHAM BEFOREHAND, SAYING, “ALL THE NATIONS SHALL BE BLESSED IN YOU,”
9SO THAT THOSE WHO ARE OF BELIEF ARE BLESSED WITH Aḇraham, the believer.
The verses from Gen 12:2-3 also correlate with this other passage in Genesis, and again this is pertaining ONLY to Abraham, and his SEED:
Gen 22:17that I shall certainly bless you, and I shall certainly increase your seed as the stars of the heavens and as the sand which is on the seashore, and let your seed possess the gate of their enemies.
18“AND IN YOUR *SEED* ALL THE NATIONS OF THE EARTH SHALL BE BLESSED, BECAUSE YOU HAVE OBEYED MY VOICE.“
Genesis 22:18 was mentioned in Galatians, as it was a FULFILLMENT in Yeshua/Jesus:
Gal 3:16But the promises were spoken to Aḇraham, and to his Seed. He does not say, “And to seeds,” as of many, but as of one, “AND TO YOUR SEED”, WHO IS MESSIAH.
This is again brought up in Hebrews, as the whole premise of Hebrews is the change in covenants and showing everything pointed to Yeshua/Jesus and obtaining the promise, which was the Holy Spirit poured out in Acts 2. It is THROUGH YESHUA/JESUS that those are BLESSED, and was foreshadowed through the birth of Issac.
Hebrews 6:13For Elohim, having promised Aḇraham, since He could swear by no one greater, swore by Himself,
14saying, “TRULY, BLESSING I SHALL BLESS YOU, AND INCREASING I SHALL INCREASE YOU.”(direct quote from gen 22:17 and Gen 12:2)
15And so, after being patient, he obtained the promise.
Also in mentioning of Acts 2, let me also quote a passage from Acts 3, which shows that it was THROUGH YESHUA/JESUS THAT ALL NATIONS SHOULD BE BLESSED:
Acts 3:24Yea, and all the prophets from Samuel and those that follow after, as many as have spoken, have likewise foretold of these days. 25Ye are the children of the prophets, and of the covenant which God made with our fathers, saying unto Abraham, And in thy seed shall all the kindreds of the earth be blessed. 26UNTO YOU FIRST GOD, HAVING RAISED UP HIS SON JESUS, SENT HIM TO BLESS YOU, IN TURNING AWAY EVERY ONE OF YOU FROM HIS INIQUITIES.(KJV)
Remember, Abraham had TWO sons, Ishmael, though born first, was not the heir of promise, Isaac was. To read more on the two sons, representing the two Israel’s and two covenants: A Tale of Two Covenants Part 1 and Part 2.
So how can a nation that denies the SEED, being Messiah, be blessed? When the promises spoken were promised through belief in Messiah Yeshua, and the receiving of the Holy Spirit; which is a deposit of our inheritance:
•Eph 1: 13And in Him you were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, having heard and believed the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation. 14The Spirit is the pledge of our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession, to the praise of His glory. (BSB)
•2 Cor 1:21Now it is God who establishes both us and you in Christ. He anointed us, 22placed His seal on us, and put His Spirit in our hearts as a pledge of what is to come. (BSB)
Abraham was looking forward to the promised land of inheritance not of the physical/earthly, but the spiritual, through the Seed:
Hebrews 11:8By belief, Aḇraham obeyed when he was called to go out to the place which he was about to receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going.
9By belief, he sojourned in the land of promise as a stranger, dwelling in tents with Yitsḥaq and Ya‛aqoḇ, the heirs with him of the same promise,
10FOR HE WAS LOOKING FOR THE CITY HAVING FOUNDATIONS, WHOSE BUILDER AND MAKER IS ELOHIM.(ISR 98)
Let me pause here and and elaborate a little on this last passage from Hebrews 11:10, and go to Ephesians:
Eph 2:17And having come, He brought as Good News peace to you who were far off, and peace to those near.
18Because through Him we both have access to the Father by one Spirit.
19So then you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the set-apart ones and members of the household of Elohim,
20HAVING BEEN BUILT UPON THE FOUNDATION OF THE EMISSARIES AND PROPHETS, יהושע Messiah Himself being chief corner-stone,
21IN WHOM ALL THE BUILDING, BEING JOINED TOGETHER, GROWS INTO A SET-APART DWELLING PLACE in יהוה,
22in whom you also are being built together into a dwelling of Elohim in the Spirit.(ISR 98)
Abraham was looking forward to the Spiritual fulfillment through the promise of the Messiah, not in a lasting city here, but rather the everlasting city and everlasting inheritance. Let us continue in Hebrews 11:
Heb 11:11By belief also, Sarah herself was enabled to conceive seed, and she bore a child when she was past the normal age, because she deemed Him trustworthy who had promised.
12And so from one, and him as good as dead, were born as numerous as the stars of the heaven, as countless as the sand which is by the seashore.
13IN BELIEF ALL THESE DIED, NOT HAVING RECEIVED THE PROMISES, BUT SEEING THEM FROM A DISTANCE, welcomed and embraced them, AND CONFESSED THAT THEY WERE ALIENS AND STRANGERS ON THE EARTH.
Now, even if we want to take a deeper look into being blessed through Israel, does this mean we are to be blessed when we support a physical nation called Israel, or those who profess to be “Jews”? So, in such, let us also take a quick look at Israel, and WHO it ultimately was to point to:
Simply, there is Only One Israel, One true Nation, and that consists of those people in Covenant with Him, the New Covenant, under His blood, according to the Spiritual SEED; Isaac born from above. So, be careful in who you bless and who you curse…as you may be cursing the very Body of Messiah, to include the Head Himself.
So in a short summary:
THIS——>Gen 12:2“And I shall make you a great nation, and bless you and make your name great, and you shall be a blessing!
3“And I shall bless those who bless you, and curse him who curses you. And in you all the clans of the earth shall be blessed.”
IS FULFILLMENT IN THIS—–>Gal 3:6Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness. 7Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham. 8And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen(gentiles) through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed. 9So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham.
NOT THIS—->Bless a physical land of Israel formulated in 1948 by the Rothchilds, and a physical people after the flesh who deny the Son.
OR THIS—-> Bless the House of Judah, your ‘Big Brother’ or you will be cursed (When technically the true House of Judah was destroyed and cast out of covenant in 70AD)
BUT THIS—>Bless those who are in the faith, and you will be blessed, curse those in the faith, and you will be cursed. All that are of Abraham’s SEED through Messiah YHWH Yeshua shall be blessed.
