Over and over again, we are told throughout Scripture, not to defile Yah’s Temple, and to cleanse ourselves WHOLLY…body, soul, and spirit:
♦2 Cor 7:1Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, LET US CLEANSE OURSELVES FROM ALL FILTHINESS OF THE FLESH AND SPIRIT, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.(KJV)
♦1 Thes 5:23May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. MAY YOUR WHOLE SPIRIT, SOUL, AND BODY BE KEPT BLAMELESS at the coming of our Lord Jesus(Yeshua) Christ. 24The one who calls you is faithful, and he will do it.
Many think that just as long as they are not physically eating unclean that somehow it nullifies them in the realm of eating spiritually unclean. Both, when taken into account will have their consequences, whether it be spiritual or physical death. If you don’t physically murder, great, but what about all the bitterness and anger that is being harbored within your soul towards another? If you are not sleeping around, but you have a wandering eye, your body may not be to blame, but your spirit is. It is not just the physical, but the spiritual cleansing that is necessary to become vessels of honor:
♦2 Tim 2:21If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, SANCTIFIED, and meet for the master’s use, and prepared unto every good work.
The example of the OT earthly temple is a type and a shadow to the Temple that is our bodies according to the New Covenant, and we should take heed:
♦Ezekiel 5:11Wherefore, as I live, saith YHWH Elohim; Surely, because thou hast DEFILED MY SANCTUARY with all thy detestable things, and with all thine abominations, therefore will I also diminish thee; neither shall mine eye spare, neither will I have any pity.(KJV)
♦1 Cor 3:16Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? 17If any man DEFILE THE TEMPLE of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.(KJV)
The earthly temple layout is a type and a shadow to our bodies, and just as the defilement of the earthly temple happened, so does the temple of man. With defilement, with sin being present, there will also be the presence of demons. As you can see the Spirit of Yah, and demons were present in the same temple as many abominations were taking place within the Temple…and eventually the Spirit of Yah left.
Let this be a warning to those who do not take the cleansing of their temple seriously, as we look into the things that were going on in the temple according to Ezekiel, and parallel that to the temple as it is now:
The picture below is the Temple layout according to Ezekiel. I am going to go through the account in Ezekiel of the abominations done to the temple with parallel Scripture from the NT, in reference to our bodies:
♦Ezek 8:6And He said to me, “Son of man, do you see what they are doing, the great abominations which the house of Yisra’ĕl are doing here, driving Me away from My set-apart place? And you are to see still greater abominations.”
7Then He brought me to the door of the court. And I looked and saw a 
hole in the wall. 8And He said to me, “Son of man, please dig into the wall.” And when I dug into the wall I saw a door. 9And He said to me, “Go in, and see the evil abominations which they are doing there.”
10And I went in and looked and saw all kinds of creeping creatures, abominable beasts, and all the IDOLS of the house of Yisra’ĕl, CARVED ALL AROUND THE WALLS.
Now, these idols were carved, etched, into the walls of the temple, much like you would see graffiti on the walls of buildings. Which brings me to these two Scripture passages:
1.) Lev 19:28‘And do not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor put tattoo marks on you. I am יהוה.
Is not cutting into your flesh of your body, in essence carving? And are not the things in which you etch, idols?
2.) 2 Cor 6:16And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
We also know that with any idol worship, that demons are being worshipped, (so there is demon worship going on in the same temple that Yah dwells):
1.) 1 Cor 10:20No, but what the gentiles offer they offer to demons and not to Elohim, and I do not wish you to become sharers with demons. 21You are not able to drink the cup of the Master and the cup of demons, you are not able to partake of the table of the Master and of the table of demons.(ISR 98)
2.) Rev 9:20And the rest of mankind, who were not killed by these plagues, did not repent of the works of their hands, that they should not worship the demons, and idols of gold, and of silver, and of brass, and of stone, and of wood, which are neither able to see, nor to hear, nor to walk.(ISR 98)
Ezek: 8:11And facing them stood seventy men of the elders of the house of Yisra’ĕl, and in their midst stood Ya‛azanyahu son of Shaphan. Each one had a censer in his hand, and a thick cloud of incense went up. 12And He said to me, “Son of man, have you seen what the elders of the house of Yisra’ĕl are doing in the dark, each one in the room of his idols? For they say, ‘יהוה does not see us, יהוה has forsaken the land.’ ”
These men’s prayers were an abomination, as our mouths are the altar of incense:
♦Psalm 141:2Let my prayer be prepared before You as incense, The lifting up of my hands as the evening offering. 3O יהוה, set a guard for my mouth; Watch over the door of my lips.
♦Rev 5:8And when He took the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each holding a harp, and golden bowls filled with incense, which are the prayers of the set-apart ones.
Ezek 8:13And He said to me, “You are to see still greater abominations which they are doing.”14And He brought me to the door of the north gate of the House of יהוה, and I saw women sitting there, weeping for Tammuz.15Then He said to me, “Have you seen this, O son of man? You are to see still greater abominations than these.”
The practice of weeping for Tammuz: The Babylonian tradition of weeping, fasting, and mourning for Tammuz leading up to the festival in commemoration of the resurrection of the pagan sun god. Tammuz was the son and husband of the goddess, Ishtar, which makes sense considering the following verses involving sun worship. This practice is still widely accepted and practiced today, however; it is called ‘40 days of lent’. The practice of sexual indulgence etc, of ‘Fat Tuesday/Mardi Grais’ the day typically before ‘Ash Wednesday’ leading into ‘lent’ and then ‘Easter’…springs up from this pagan ritual, as there was much idol prostitution going on. Ishtar was the fertility goddess, thus there were many sexual sins committed in honoring her, and her son, Tammuz. Committing sexual sins, especially within the temple is defilement, and abhorrent to Yah:
♦1 Cor 6:18Flee whoring. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits whoring SINS AGAINST HIS OWN BODY. 19Or do you not know that YOUR BODY IS THE DWELLING PLACE OF THE SET-APART SPIRIT (HOLY SPIRIT) who is in you, which you have from Elohim, and you are not your own? 20For you were bought with a price, therefore esteem Elohim in your body and in your spirit, which are of Elohim. (ISR 98)
Ezek 8:16And He brought me into the inner court of the House of יהוה. And there, at the door of the Hĕḵal of יהוה, between the porch and the altar, were about twenty-five men with their backs toward the Hĕḵal of יהוה and their faces toward the east, and they were bowing themselves eastward to the sun.
So, here, in the inner court you have sun worship taking place, between the porch and the altar facing toward the east, bowing, so they had their backsides along with their rears up to the Holy Place.
♦Deut 17:2“When there is found in your midst, in any of your cities which יהוה your Elohim is giving you, a man or a woman who does WHAT IS EVIL in the eyes of יהוה your Elohim, in transgressing His covenant, 3and has gone and served other mighty ones and bowed down to them, or TO THE SUN OR TO THE MOON OR TO ANY OF THE HOST OF THE HEAVENS, WHICH I HAVE NOT COMMANDED,
Ezek 8:17And He said to me, “Have you seen, O son of man? Is it a small matter to the house of Yehuḏah to do the abominations which they have done here? For they have filled the land with violence, and turn back to provoke Me. And see, they are putting the branch to My nose.
With all the already abominations taking place, there was much witchcraft and sorcery taken place, as well as the rebellion of the people, these are also matters of which defile the temple:
♦Lev 19:31‘Do not turn to mediums, and do not seek after spiritists to be DEFILED by them. I am יהוה your Elohim. (ISR 98)
♦1 Samuel 15:23For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD(YHWH), he hath also rejected thee from being king. (KJV)
Ezek 8:18“Therefore I shall indeed deal in wrath. My eye shall not pardon nor would I spare. And they shall cry in My ears with a loud voice, but I shall not hear them.”
As you continue to read on in the chapters, you can see all other wicked deeds the people were doing, in, and around the temple, and because of their wickedness, rebellion, and refusal to repent, Yah’s Spirit left.
David had cried out for the Spirit of Yah not to depart him, but to create in him a clean heart:
♦Psalm 51:10Create in me a clean heart, O Elohim, And renew a steadfast spirit within me.11Do not cast me away from Your presence, And do not take Your Set-apart Spirit from me.
Let us all petition our Father YHWH Elohim the same:
♦1 John 3:2Beloved ones, now we are children of Elohim. And it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. 3And everyone having this expectation IN HIM CLEANSES HIMSELF, AS HE IS CLEAN. (ISR 98)
