Col 2:9FOR IN HIM DWELLETH ALL THE FULNESS OF THE GODHEAD BODILY.(KJV)
This passage implies that the fullness of the Godhead is expressed through Yeshua/Jesus. Which means that Father, Son, Spirit are expressed through the physical (bodily)image of Yeshua. So when we see Yeshua/Jesus we see: Father, Son, Spirit.
“Veiled in flesh the Godhead see;
Hail th’incarnate Deity,
Pleased with us in flesh to dwell,
Jesus our Emmanuel.”
John 14:9Yeshua said to him, “All this time I am with you and you have not known me Phillip? Whoever has seen me has seen The Father, and how do you say, ‘Show us The Father’?”(APE)
So, who is the Holy Spirit?
The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Messiah/Son:
♦Romans 8:9But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the SPIRIT OF CHRIST, he is none of his. (KJV)
♦Gal 4:6And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth THE SPIRIT OF HIS SON INTO YOUR HEARTS, crying, Abba, Father.(KJV)
The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of the Father:
Ezek 36:27And I(YHWH) WILL PUT MY SPIRIT WITHIN YOU and cause you to walk in My statutes and to carefully observe My ordinances.
It was His Spirit that spoke through the prophets:
Neh 9:30“And You had patience with them for many years, and did warn them BY YOUR SPIRIT, by the hand of Your prophets, yet they would not give ear. Therefore You gave them into the hand of the peoples of the lands.(ISR 98)
And yet that SAME SPIRIT was called the SPIRIT OF CHRIST that spoke through the prophets that prophesied of HIS COMING.
1 Peter 1:10Concerning this salvation, the prophets who foretold the grace that would come to you searched and investigated carefully, 11trying to determine the time and setting to which the SPIRIT OF CHRIST IN THEM WAS POINTING when He predicted the sufferings of Christ and the glories to follow. (BSB)
So the Spirit of the Father is also called the Spirit of Messiah/Son. How many spirits were supposed to dwell in our heart? One.
The Rock that was struck by Moses in the wilderness, poured forth water:
Ex 17:6“See, I am standing before you there on the rock in Ḥorĕḇ. And you shall SMITE THE ROCK, AND WATER SHALL COME OUT OF IT, AND THE PEOPLE SHALL DRINK.” And Mosheh did so before the eyes of the elders of Yisra’ĕl.(ISR 98)
Who was the Rock?
1Cor 10:1Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea; 2And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea; 3And did all eat the same spiritual meat; 4And did all drink the same spiritual drink: FOR THEY DRANK OF THAT SPIRITUAL ROCK THAT FOLLOWED THEM: AND THAT ROCK WAS CHRIST.(KJV)
The Rock was Yeshua.
There is only ONE ROCK…
Isa 44:6“Thus said יהוה, Sovereign of Yisra’ĕl, and his Redeemer, יהוה of hosts, ‘I am the First and I am the Last, besides Me there is no Elohim.
7‘And who is like Me? Let him call and declare it, and lay it before Me, since I appointed the everlasting people. And the events that are coming and those that do come, let them declare these to them.
8‘Do not fear, nor be afraid. Have I not since made you hear, and declared it? You are My witnesses. Is there an Eloah besides Me? THERE IS NO OTHER ROCK, I KNOW NOT ONE.’ ”(ISR 98)
So, YHWH=Yeshua=Rock
And what flowed from the Rock?
Water.
Out of the Rock came Water. When Messiah was crucified out of His body, poured Living Water, which is the Spirit.
John 7:37Now on the last day, the great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “IF ANYONE IS THIRSTY, LET HIM COME TO ME AND DRINK. 38″He who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, ‘From his innermost being will FLOW RIVERS OF LIVING WATER.'”39BUT THIS HE SPOKE OF THE SPIRIT, whom those who believed in Him were to receive; for the Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified. (KJV)
Out of the Body of Yeshua, flowed Living Waters, and the Spirit of YHWH, which is also called the Spirit of Messiah.
Romans 8:9But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed THE SPIRIT OF ELOHIM DWELLS IN YOU. AND IF ANYONE DOES NOT HAVE THE SPIRIT OF MESSIAH, THIS ONE IS NOT HIS
So…Who is the Rock?
YHWH/Yeshua
And what flowed from the Rock?
Living Water/Spirit
Yeshua/Jesus also breathed onto the diciples telling them to receive the Holy Spirit.
John 20:21Again Jesus said to them, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent Me, so also I am sending you.” 22When He had said this, HE BREATHED ON THEM AND SAID, “RECEIVE THE HOLY SPIRIT.(BSB)
Where else do we see the breath of the Spirit being given?
Gen 2:7And יהוה (YHWH)Elohim FORMED THE MAN OUT OF THE DUST FROM THE GROUND, AND BREATHED INTO HIS NOSTRILS THE BREATH OF LIFE. And the man became a living being.(ISR 98)
Now, let’s look a little closer at the word “spirit” within the Greek, from John 20:22 “He BREATHED ON THEM, and said, “Receive the Holy **SPIRIT**.
Original Word: πνεῦμα, ατος, τό
Part of Speech: Noun, Neuter
Transliteration: pneuma
Phonetic Spelling: (pnyoo’-mah)
Definition: wind, spirit
Usage: wind, breath, spirit.
4151 pneúma – properly, spirit (Spirit), wind, or breath. The most frequent meaning (translation) of 4151 (pneúma) in the NT is “spirit” (“Spirit“). Only the context however determines which sense(s) is meant.
[Any of the above renderings (spirit-Spirit, wind, breath) of 4151 (pneúma) is always theoretically possible (spirit, Spirit, wind, breath). But when the attributive adjective (“holy”) is used, it always refers to the Holy Spirit. “Spirit” (“spirit”) is by far the most common translation (application) of 4151 (pneúma).
The Hebrew counterpart (rûach) has the same range of meaning as 4151 (pneúma), i.e. it likewise can refer to spirit/Spirit, wind, or breath.]
In both the Greek and the Hebrew, “pneuma”, or “ruach” for spirit, can mean breath. So, when we see the passage from John 20:22, we see in whom that breath belongs, and that the breath of Yeshua, is the same breath of YHWH.
♦John 6:63“It is the Spirit that gives life, the flesh does not profit at all. The words that I speak to you are Spirit and are life.(ISR98)
♦1 Cor 15:45And so it has been written, “The first man Aḏam became a living being,” the last Aḏam a life-giving Spirit.(ISR 98)
Finally, I want to also show a wonderful correlation to Yeshua/Jesus walking on the water:
Matthew 14:25And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea. 26AND WHEN THE DISCIPLES SAW HIM WALKING ON THE SEA, THEY WERE TROUBLED, SAYING, IT IS A SPIRIT; and they cried out for fear. 27But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid.(KJV)
Where else do we see this imagery?
Gen 1:1In the beginning Elohim created the heavens and the earth. 2And the earth came to be formless and empty, and darkness was on the face of the deep. AND THE SPIRIT OF ELOHIM WAS MOVING ON THE FACE OF THE WATERS. 3And Elohim said, “Let light come to be,” and light came to be. (ISR 98)
So, WHO is the HOLY SPIRIT? Well, when we see Yeshua, we are seeing the physical bodily manifestation of the fullness of God: Father, Son, and SPIRIT. YHWH is One.
Col 2:9For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.
