To the average person, not much thought is given into why they do what they do, or why they believe what they believe. Most just go with the ebb and flow of society and culture, not questioning the traditions that they uphold.
The moment we begin to question something, we are confronted with two possible outcomes. One, if the information goes against everything that we were taught to believe was true, we set our hearts and minds to accept it and not to continue on in a lie. Two, if the information goes against everything that we were taught to believe was true, we set our hearts and minds to reject it, and continue on in a lie. To question why, and then act upon the outcome of that answer in the light of the truth, takes a great amount of fortitude and meekness. As followers of Christ, we are to uphold the truth, even if that makes us uncomfortable, and even if that means losing friends and family. This is the cost of following Yeshua/Jesus. This is what it means to worship Him in Spirit and in Truth. (Joh 4:23-24)
♦Deut 16:21“You shall not plant for yourself any tree, as a wooden image, near the altar which you build for yourself to the LORD(YHWH) your God.
I wanted to start off with this passage, for two different reasons:
1.) Because Yahweh makes it clear that He alone is to be worshipped. When we place another image of worship near the altar of God, then we allow dual worship to take place, which is idolatry, and the Name of God is blasphemed. (Ezek 20:27, Rom 2:24)
(21) Thou shalt not plant thee a grove.–Heb., asherah, sometimes used of images, but here evidently of the grove itself. The worship of Jehovah allowed of no secret rites; and nothing that could lead to the abominations of heathen idolatry could be permitted near Jehovah’s altar.
2.) Understanding how trees or groves (called Asherim/Asherah) were worshipped by the ancient Israelites, gives us insight not only in how things were culturally, but that how much has not changed over the years.
A little Background
Growing up in a non-Christian home, I vividly remember the awe and lure that Christmas would bring. I can remember looking up into the dark winter sky, anticipating the arrival of Santa, with his magical sleigh and reindeer, delivering presents to slumbering little boys and girls. The buildup and excitement of what gifts might lie beneath the evergreen tree, was almost too much for a young child to handle. The twinkling Christmas lights on the tree next to our fireplace silently sang a mesmerizing tune that had you enchanted.
Like many folks, decorating at our house began soon after Thanksgiving, and the outside of the house was nothing short of a light extravaganza with every blow-up figurine that could possibly fit on our lawn and door overhang. There were at least two strip surge protectors filled to the max that had to be flipped on at the setting of the sun, illuminating our house that I believed drained the power grid at that exact moment. One year I can even remember our entire garage door wrapped up like a giant present with a huge bow around the front. It was hideous. Growing up in the 80s where we did not have GPS or MapQuest, the next best thing came to be a tracking location by Christmas lights. I learned to detest these lights as they were overly gaudy, and I was expected to help with the take down. It was my least favorite aspect of Christmas.
The name of Jesus I remember hearing, and that it was His birthday, but it was overshadowed by everything else. Even visiting my dad, stepmother, and half-brothers and sisters who were attending a Lutheran church, there was no separation between Christan and non-Christian celebration. That’s the thing that I had started questioning early on in my walk with Christ, was the fact that you didn’t even have to profess Christ to celebrate Christmas, and the same traditions that are done in an unbeliever’s house, are also done in a believer’s house, while professing to be “all about Jesus”. As a child, I found Christmas to be a wonderous time. I, like many children, fell into the wonder an awe of the magical North Pole and little elves busily working to create toys for children all around the world. However, there comes a day where the reality of what you viewed to be truth, was found to be a lie, and that such lie had been perpetuated by your parents. For many children, this becomes a point of distrust in their parents, and the many Christian parents who do so place a stumbling block before their children.
♦Matthew 18:6But if anyone causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to stumble, it would be better for him to have a large millstone hung around his neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea. 7Woe to the world for the causes of sin. These stumbling blocks must come, but woe to the man through whom they come!
Satan is the father of lies, and so when parents lie to their children they are acting in accord with the spirit of Satan:
♦Joh 8:44Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
As I grew up, Christmas became a time of drunken revelry, which understanding the origins of Christmas, and the Christmas “spirit”, makes perfect sense on why for many, that is also a time of drunken festivities. It was not until many years later that I came to understand this truth. This was a reason why after I came to Christ, Christmas did not have a big stronghold against me, after I had been set free from alcoholism. Even though I would still partake in some of the Christmas activities, especially at work functions, it did not have the same allure for me as when I was in the world. When I met my husband in Italy, we mostly would travel and just spend time together. It honestly was not even until 3 years after we were married that we even really decided to go “full on” Christmas, and bought a tree, ornaments, and several Christmas albums.
Beginning in 2011 and up to 2014 several events happened that caused me to begin questioning Christmas. Our eldest daughter Alissa had been born that year and would experience her first Christmas. Tony and I had been discussing how we would celebrate, and we both came to the agreement and conviction to eliminate anything to do with Santa, elves, and the north pole. We still put up a tree, decorated it, and bought and gave gifts. We wanted to make sure that as new parents trying to raise our daughter, we would not make the same errors our parents did in lying to us about Santa. That year really began to weigh heavy on my heart and I had an experience at the BX (military base store) that upset me. I had written about this briefly on Facebook and little did I know of the domino effect that it would cause, leading us further on our journey to the truth.
December 2, 2011
I really dislike santa clause…all it does is replace Jesus, and that is just not okay with me. Was at the BX yesterday and lady asked if santa was going to bring presents to Alissa, I replied, “we don’t do santa, we do Jesus, cause that’s what its all about, right?”
At the time that I posted this, my husband and I had been attending a church for a while in which we had become involved and were somewhat established. Many of those we fellowshipped with (to include our pastor), I was connected with on FB.
Looking at this comment now, it’s almost as if I had begun to question, “Is it really all about Jesus?” Perhaps that is a good question to start with. Is Jesus REALLY what Christmas is all about? Many will say yes, but when we become honest with ourselves, and pull back everything that overshadows Him, we find that it really is not about Him, but us, and what we want.
Well, soon after I had written my post above, a woman that went to our church commented:
“may I say double like. The pretend is fun but are we laying a foundation of mistrust with our kids? I hope your family has an awwesome Christmas!”
I appreciate the question that is brought up, “but are we laying a foundation of mistrust with our kids?” As parents, especially those who have a professing faith in Yeshua/Jesus Messiah, if we are not willing to examine these things, then we really shouldn’t be claiming to follow Messiah. To pretend is one thing, but lying and causing worship to fall off of Jesus and onto Santa is blatant idolatry.
To which I had replied:
“Exactly, Tony and I feel convicted on this, and I honestly believe that if each parent were to come before God and ask him if He wants us to be following that tradition, He would say no, because that is what he put in our hearts…”
Now, mind you at this time, I did not realize the level of idolatry that people held for Santa in their hearts, especially those who professed to be Christians. That would be realized a few days later, as this post I made was on a Friday and the following Sunday we headed to church.
The day appeared somewhat normal, but for some reason I just felt something was off. As we got settled into our chairs, and the sermon was about to start, here comes our pastor dressed in a Santa hat, walking from the left side of the stage (ironic now to say stage, because for the vast majority of churches today, that’s all it is, a staged performance) and with microphone in hand proceeds to go on a demonic rant about how much he loves Santa. No Jesus. No Holiness. No message of repentance. Just his undying love for Santa.
This literally went on for about 5 or 10 minutes. Both Tony and I sat there in disbelief at what was going on. Then, as if our pastor was on cue, he looks directly over at us, dead in the eye. I cannot tell you if at the time he even realized that he was looking over at us, or rather if it was the demon that was manifesting through him at the time…perhaps it was a little of both. Either way, I felt the demonic presence and felt sick to my stomach. It is no wonder to me now, how that demon had so much authority over our pastor, and the church as a whole.
♦1 Kings 22:23So you see, the LORD(YHWH) has put a lying spirit in the mouths of all these prophets of yours, and the LORD(YHWH) has pronounced disaster against you.”
As I shared passionately with friends and church members, I became upset and almost disillusioned, as I had to literally defend the worship of Jesus at a time that is supposed to be about Him. The following weeks, I could fell the spirit of offense with many of my “Christian” friends who continued to justify Santa. It really was very disturbing. We pretty much stopped attending that church after what happened.
For a pastor that is supposed to lead and protect the flock, to get up in front the congregation and profess his love for Santa, is just blasphemous. To utter the words, “It’s all about Jesus”, and “I don’t worship Santa”, while doing the very opposite, reveals a deluded heart.
♦Matt 15:8This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me. 9But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.
Looking back at this event from 10 years ago, I am thankful to the Holy Spirit in that He allowed us to see the demonic spirit manifest in our pastor, showing us the spell that people are under through this idolatry. It was a defining moment in our journey to come out of the Whore of Babylon.
The following year, December 2012, we were in the process of moving across the country, so we were unable to celebrate Christmas. The move across the country was in direct alignment with the Father’s will, and I am thankful that we were unable to celebrate in the ways we had previously. That year would have also been our youngest daughter’s first Christmas, and I am thankful that both our girls have not grown up knowing these holidays, but rather Yahweh’s appointed feasts.
During our moving process, this is all that I had posted on FB regarding Christmas:
December 25, 2012
Not much of a Christmas here, since we been gettin things ready for the move…but Christmas is’nt about us anyway…so, I want to take this and just thank the Lord for all of his blessings for my family and others, I especially thank him for today, for sending His Son, Jesus to die on the cross so that we may all live through Him and have a relationship with him. I am so thankful and so Love a God who Loves us more than we could ever begin to know.
The following year, December 2013, the Holy Spirit had me experience such a heaviness that I actually began to sense the spiritual shift that leads into the Christmas season.
December 18, 2013
So, I briefly heard a song on the radio the other day “It’s the most wonderful time of the year”..and suddenly I had a tug on my spirit and a thought occured: “it’s not”, while I don’t disagree that many wonderful things can happen during this ‘time’, but overall the spirit of christmas is not very friendly…and maybe because it is infact a spirit that invades specifically at that time…Think about it…do you notice a sudden atmospheric change around you when that ‘time’ comes? Everyones spirit changes, and for the most part it isn’t good. There seems to be a bit more of heavieness, but maybe that’s just the weather…
The true “spirit” of Christmas is nothing more than pure witchcraft through the seduction of idolatry. While most people are completely unaware of the drunken, euphoric stupor in which they are lulled into a sense of false joy and peace, I experienced the true manifestation behind such deception. This is how Satan works as an angel of light and leads so many into the path of destruction. He makes things look alluring, but once you see what’s behind, it is pure evil. This is why we see Santa’s elves today as cute little beings with pointy ears, yet if we look closer, we can see they came from demons. Look into Krampus.
2 Cor 11:14And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light.
It was this level of oppression that I experienced, that motivated me to look into the true origins of Christmas, and I could not with a clear conscience bring myself to put up our Christmas tree or any of the traditions, until I came to a full understanding on the matter.
A few months later, I came across a video done by Jeremiah films (shown below) that left me in utter disgust of what I had been partaking in all these years. As soon as the video was over, I sat stunned and appalled and with full clarity denounced Christmas. Next, I shared such revelation and video with my husband. Soon after he watched it, he became convicted, and we gathered all of our Christmas items and threw them in the trash. Christmas tree, tree skirt, lights, ornaments, music…everything went in the trash.
Soon after this, we began telling friends and family that we would no longer be celebrating Christmas. Without going into too much detail, I can say that we were met with much resistance and offense. We were slandered and mocked, even by those we were still connected to from our previous church. However, this is what the Word promises us.
2 Tim 3:12Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution.
A little on the Tree
The worship of trees/groves were a large part of worship in pagan cultures, but were also adapted into the Israelite society, which Yahweh condemned. I have already written a blog devoted entirely to that subject called “Under Every Green Tree“, which also goes into other Christmas traditions. However, I do want to share some of that information, to show how the modern Christmas tree has been set up to worship Asherah, the fertility goddess.
Trees and groves have been objects of worship for many cultures through the centuries. It has been believed that trees contain sacred energy and represented gods and goddesses of pagan religions. Many of the winter solstice celebrations such as Mithra, Yalda, Yule, Saturnalia, Christmas and Hanukkah all have similar practices and traditions involving a tree. Within the scriptures you will often find tree worship associated with the fertility goddess Asherah.
Yule is the Nordic winter solstice pagan celebration in honor of the god Odin and lasted for 12 days celebrating the rebirth of the sun. Ironically, when you look up Yule in the dictionary, it’s referred to as Christmas, as many of the traditions also came from such, like the 12 days of Christmas. The Yule tree, which came from the traditions of Yalda/Mithra also morphed into the Christmas tree.
“The Yule Tree was also another important symbol in pagan tradition. Originally, it represented the Tree of Life or the World Tree among early pagans. In ancient times it was decorated with gifts people wanted to receive from the gods. It was adorned with natural ornaments such as pinecones, berries and other fruit, as well as symbols sacred to the gods and goddess. In some holiday traditions, garlands of popcorn and berries were strung around the tree so that visiting birds could feed off the tree as well.” https://www.sacredearthjourneys.ca/blog/traditions-and-symbols-of-yule/
When Yah/God had convicted me on the Christmas tree, the Holy Spirit brought me directly to this passage:
♦Jeremiah 10: 1Hear ye the word which the LORD speaketh unto you, O house of Israel: 2Thus saith the LORD, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them. 3For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe. 4They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not.
Not only were trees worshipped, but also wooden figurines.
♦2 Kings 21:7Manasseh even took the carved Asherah pole he had made and set it up in the temple, of which the LORD had said to David and his son Solomon, “In this temple and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, I will establish My Name forever.
Today, we not only have trees that can be purchased and brought into the home, whether fake or real, but there are also tree figurines that you can get in various materials. Figurines, artwork, and many shows/movies also depict a wise “mother” figure through a tree, which is Gaia or “Mother Earth” worship, which all leads back to Asherah.
A modern-day Christmas tree is taken from the woods, (or made from plastic), cut down, sold in a market, placed in homes, and then decorated. Notice that it is underneath the evergreen tree, or Christmas tree, in which presents are placed.
This again goes back to ancient pagan worship:
♦ Isa 57:5who burn with lust among the oaks, under every luxuriant tree, who slaughter your children in the valleys, under the clefts of the rocks?
Verse 5. – Inflaming yourselves with idols under every green tree (comp. Isaiah 1:29; Isaiah 65:3; Isaiah 66:17; and see also 2 Kings 16:4; 2 Kings 17:10; Jeremiah 2:20; Jeremiah 3:6, etc.). The reference is, as Mr. Cheyne says, to the “orgiastic cults’ in the sacred groves of Palestinian heathenism.” The nature of these cults is well stated by Professor Dollinger (‘Jew and Gentile,’ vol. 1. p. 430): “At the spring festival, called by some the ‘brand-feast,’ by others that of torches, which was attended by streams of visitors from every country, huge trees were burnt, with the offerings suspended on them. Even children were sacrificed; they were put into a leathern bag, and thrown the whole height of the temple to the bottom, with the shocking expression that they were calves, and not children.
Notice that they would hang offerings on the tree, and then burn the tree as an offering.
Perhaps a little more insight into modern day tree lighting ceremonies and ornament hanging?
According to the Encyclopedia Britannica pertaining to the Christmas Tree…
“The use of evergreen trees, wreaths, and garlands to symbolize eternal life was a custom of the ancient Egyptians, Chinese, and Hebrews. Tree worship was common among the pagan Europeans and survived their conversion to Christianity in the Scandinavian customs of decorating the house and barn with evergreens at the New Year to scare away the devil and of setting up a tree for the birds during Christmas time.”
This picture came from a wiccan site. So, explain to me how Christians are set apart in decorating a tree?
Is a Christmas tree really about Jesus/Yeshua?
Feast of Tabernacles and the Puritans
During the above-mentioned time, we were ridding ourselves of the world’s holidays, Yah was leading us into the true appointed times which Christ fulfilled through His life, death, burial, resurrection, and the outpouring of His Spirit. Passover, Feast of Unleavened Bread, First-fruits, Atonement, Trumpets, Feast of Tabernacles, and Pentecost. (Lev 23)
Jesus/Yeshua was born during the fall months of September/October which is during God’s appointed times (moedim), the Feast of Trumpets and the Feast of Tabernacles (aka the fall feast days).
From my studies, I believe that it is highly likely that He was born during the Feast of Tabernacles, as He came and ‘tabernacled’ and dwelt among us. There are also many other factors during that time to consider.
He was born 6 months after John the Baptist which would have also put His birth at the time frame mentioned. He was not born during the winter months, nor Dec. 25 (Christmas), as also the sheep were in the pasture during that time (Luke 2:8).
The Feast of Tabernacles is also called the Feast of Sukkot, and you dwell in a Tabernacle/Sukkah/Booth/Tent. Our bodies are also called tents (2 Cor 5:1-2) and God prepared a body for Himself to dwell in (Hebrews 10:5) while He tabernacled with His own.
John 1:14And the Word became flesh and tabernacled among us. We looked upon His glory, the glory of the one and only from the Father, full of grace and truth.
Yeshua/Jesus was born in a manger, which in the Greek is “phatne” which can be translated as “stall, stable, manger”; however, when Jacob built shelters for his cattle, it was called a “sukkah” in the Hebrew (Gen 33:17). So, it would be fitting that at that time Yeshua/Jesus was born to not only be “the tabernacle”, but also birthed in a tabernacle fit for a “Lamb”.
As the Israelites built the tabernacle in the wilderness, and the glory of God appeared over the mercy seat, so did that tabernacle become a reality in Christ and His glory revealed through Yeshua.
♦Rev 21:3And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.
Our bodies individually are the temple (tabernacle) of God as we dwell in this wilderness (1 Cor 6:19), and also called tents (2 Cor 5:1-2). When we receive the deposit of our inheritance (the Holy Spirit) which is the Spirit of Christ within our tabernacle, He tabernacles within us.
The Fall Feast Days are only a couple weeks apart, so even if he was born during the Feast of Trumpets, His birth would have coincided during that time (Sep/Oct).
His life also correlated to the fulfillment of the other feast days. Messiah was crucified during Passover, buried during the Feast of Unleavened Bread, rose on First fruits, and then the Holy Spirit was poured out on Pentecost.
There is a set apart time that He calls us to worship Him, and He also is quite clear on how not to worship Him (Deut 12:31). It is selfishness when a person only thinks of how they want to worship Him, instead of considering How He already tells us how to worship Him, and to love Him.
The early settlers of America, the Puritans, also saw the likelihood of Yeshua/Jesus being born at Feast of Tabernacles. They were also very much against Christmas and saw it as nothing more than a Catholic holiday (hence Christ-Mas), with underlying traditions that came from Saturnalia.
Increase Mather, Puritan Minister, 1687:
Against Profane Christ-Mass Keeping
“Moreover, the Feast of Tabernacles, which signified the Incarnation of Christ, was in the seventh month. Inasmuch as the Passover typified Christ’s Death, he was crucified in that month. Why then may we not think that since the Feast of Tabernacles typified his Nativity, he was in that month born? There were also several other Festivals in that month, which might fitly type the Good Tidings of great joy that should be to all People by reason of Christ’s being born into the world at that season of the Year. Likewise in the same month was the Ark by Solomon brought into the Temple.”
In the 4th Century, both Pope Julius 1, and Emperor Constantine declared that December 25th would be the birth of Christ, and thus became known as Christmas. However, this same day was the known birthday and celebration of the sun god “Sol Invictus”. The Roman festival of Dies Natalis Solis Invicti was December 25, a few days after Saturnalia. (Saturn-alia) is called “a festival of light” and is a pagan festival in honor of the god Saturn. Saturn was referred to as the “sun-star” and so there were many correlations historically and scripturally of the worship of Saturn/Sun. (Please see my Hanukkah blog if you would like to read more pertaining to Saturn worship.) There was good reason why both Julius and Constantine declared this day, as it gave honor to worship of the sun.
(Top photo: Sol Invictus with sun rays’ bottom photo: Catholic church sun worship)
This is what the Catholic Encyclopedia states concerning the date December 25th,
“As undesirable is it to connect 25 December with the Eastern (December) feast of Dedication (Jos. Ant. Jud., XII, vii, 6). The well-known solar feast, however, of Natalis Invicti, celebrated on 25 December, has a strong claim on the responsibility for our December date. For the history of the solar cult, its position in the Roman Empire, and syncretism with Mithraism, see Cumont’s epoch-making “Textes et Monuments” etc., I, ii, 4, 6, p. 355. Mommsen (Corpus Inscriptionum Latinarum, 12, p. 338) has collected the evidence for the feast, which reached its climax of popularity under Aurelian in 274.”
To claim that Jesus was born on December 25, is based not only on a lie, but directly correlates to sun worship. One of the greatest abominations to Yahweh was the worship of the sun.
♦Ezekiel 8:16So He brought me to the inner court of the house of the LORD(YHWH), and there at the entrance to the temple of the LORD(YHWH), between the portico and the altar, were about twenty-five men with their backs to the temple of the LORD(YHWH) and their faces toward the east; and they were bowing to the east in worship of the sun.
The Puritans, knowing this history and the apostate Catholic church, wanted nothing whatsoever to do with Christmas, and called such “Foolstide”. It was outlawed in the Massachusetts Bay colony from 1659 to 1681, which had followed a similar ban in England from 1644 to 1660, under Oliver Cromwell’s rule in Parliament. Bostonians were charged five shillings for partaking in what was considered “Satanical Practices”.
Here are further writings by Increase Mather, and his sentiments of Christmas:
“In the Apostolical Times the Feast of the Nativity was not observed. The very name of Christmass savours of superstition. It can never be proved that Christ was born on December 25. It is most probable that the Nativity was in September. The New-Testament allows of no stated Holy-day but the Lords-day. Objections answered. It was in compliance with the Pagan Saturnalia that Christ-mass Holy-days were first invented. The manner of Christ-mass-keeping, as generally observed, is highly dishonourable to the Name of Christ.”
“Christmas Holidays were at first invented and institute in compliance with the Pagan Festivals, of old observed at that very time of the Year. This [De Antiq. Conviv. p. 133.] Stuckius has fully cleared. And [De Origine Festorum Christ.] Hospinian speaketh judiciously, when he saith, that he doth not believe that they who first of all observed the Feast of Christ’s Nativity in the latter end of December, did it as thinking that Christ was born in that Month, but because the Heathens Saturnalia was at that time kept in Rome, and they were willing to have those Pagan Holidays metamorphosed into Christian.”
“Now for Christians thus to practise, is against clear Scripture, which commands the Lord’s People not to learn the way of the Heathen, nor do after their manner, Jer. 10:2. Lev. 20:23. Ezek. 11:12. To observe the Festivals of the Heathen, is one way of partaking with them in their Superstitions.”
Merry Christ-Mass
The words Christ-Mass are Catholic in origin, and are derived from “Cristes Maesse”, which means “Mass of Christ”. The practice of the Catholic mass is an unbiblical reinstitution of repeated sacrifices. Mass, or more accurately “death sacrifice”, is the repeated ritual of crucifying Jesus in which He becomes the Eucharist, and the literal partaking of His flesh and blood. It is a process called transubstantiation, in which Christ Himself is summoned from heaven, places Himself on altar to be offered up as a victim for the “sins of man” and the substance of the bread and wine is changed into His flesh and blood.
The book of Hebrews not only states that Christ died once for all, but that the continued physical sacrifices done by the priests under the old covenant were fulfilled in Christ’s once for all sacrifice.
♦Hebrews 10:8Previously saying, “Sacrifice and offering, burnt offerings, and offerings for sin You did not desire, nor had pleasure in them” (which are offered according to the law), 9then He said, “Behold, I have come to do Your will, O God.” He takes away the first that He may establish the second. 10By that will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.
11And every priest stands ministering daily and offering repeatedly the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. 12But this Man, after He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down at the right hand of God, 13from that time waiting till His enemies are made His footstool. 14For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are being sanctified.
Also, the literal partaking, or transubstantiation of Christ’s blood and flesh, are to represent spiritual or symbolic partaking, as the literal eating of human flesh, and drinking of human blood were strictly forbidden and were practices of the heathen. (Genesis 9:4; Leviticus 3:17; Leviticus 7:26-27; Leviticus 17:10-14; Leviticus 19:26; Deuteronomy 12:16; Deuteronomy 12:23-24; Deuteronomy 15:23) This is why it was a hard thing for the apostles to understand what Yeshua was stating when He said this:
♦Joh 6:50This is the bread which cometh down from heaven, that a man may eat thereof, and not die. 51I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.
52The Jews therefore strove among themselves, saying, How can this man give us his flesh to eat? 53Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you. 54Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day. 55For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed. 56He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him. 57As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father: so he that eateth me, even he shall live by me. 58This is that bread which came down from heaven: not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead: he that eateth of this bread shall live for ever.
To take this at a literal interpretation would mean we would partake in cannibalism, which was a curse from Yahweh upon the children of disobedience (Lev 26:28-30, Deut 28:53, 2 Kings 6:29, Jer 19:9), as well as forsake the several passages within the Scriptures to not to drink blood. Also, Acts 15:20 was a clear indication that gentiles coming into the faith were instructed to not partake in the drinking of blood. It would seem that the apostles came to understand the spiritual meaning of partaking in Christ’s blood offering as the remission of sins to enter into the New Covenant, and not an actual partaking of literal blood.
The blood and bread of the Passover (Last Supper) meal represent the body and blood that was prepared and poured out for the remission of sins. The partaking in that meal was a fulfillment of old covenant ordinances in which the priests were to partake in the animal sacrifices from the altar.
♦Lev 6:24Also the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 25“Speak to Aaron and to his sons, saying, ‘This is the law of the sin offering: In the place where the burnt offering is killed, the sin offering shall be killed before the Lord. It is most holy. 26The priest who offers it for sin shall eat it. In a holy place it shall be eaten, in the court of the tabernacle of meeting.
Furthermore, Paul expounds on the spiritual elements of Passover in 1 Cor 5:
6Your glorying is not good. Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump? 7Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us: 8Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.
Christ our Passover is sacrificed for us. Messiah did not become a literal lamb, inasmuch as He is not a literal door. Paul speaks that we should keep the Passover feast, not with LITERAL bread, but the bread of SINCERITY and TRUTH. Leaven is not literal leaven of bread, but that of sin, which “puffs up”. Therefore, the whole concept of Mass, and transubstantiation, that Christ’s body becomes literal bread for us to partake, is not only based upon a lie, but is directly AGAINST the Scriptures. Yeshua said that He is the bread of life. Partaking in physical, literal bread will not give eternal life.
To partake in a Mass (including Christ-Mass) is anti-christ. Adding “Merry” to that becomes “merry death sacrifice of Christ”, which is a mockery to Christ, and not a hallowed greeting. To further that sentiment, I present again with the writings of Increase Mather:
Against Profane Christ-Mass Keeping
“The word Christ-mass is enough to cause such as are studious of reformation to dislike what shall be known by a name so superstitious. Why should Protestants own any thing which has the name of Mass in it? How unsuitable is it to join Christ and Mass together? i.e., Christ and Antichrist. But what Communion has light with Darkness, and what concord hath Christ with Belial? 2 Cor. 6:15.”
It would stand to reason, that for all who love and embrace “Christ-Mass”, that December 25th is the great homecoming day, when all of the Protestants become Catholic for a day. It would seem that all of the so-called “wayward daughters” of the Roman Catholic church return to their mother, the scarlet harlot. Thus, all of the so-called Protestant churches could sing to the Pope that popular song “I’ll be home for Christmas.”
Final Thoughts
As I have stated in other posts, if traditions are rooted in paganism or doctrines of men, then they should be forsaken. These are not my rules, but Yah’s.
Deuteronomy 12:30…Do not inquire about their gods, asking, “How do these nations serve their gods? I will do likewise.” 31You must not worship the LORD(YHWH) your God in this way, because they practice for their gods every abomination which the LORD(YHWH) hates. They even burn their sons and daughters in the fire as sacrifices to their gods.(BSB)
As such, I want to come back to this paragraph quoted above by Mather, and really emphasize what he said here, highlighted in bold: “Now for Christians thus to practise, is against clear Scripture, which commands the Lord’s People not to learn the way of the Heathen, nor do after their manner, Jer. 10:2. Lev. 20:23. Ezek. 11:12. To observe the Festivals of the Heathen, is one way of partaking with them in their Superstitions.”
Many synonyms for “Superstitions” have to do with magic or sorcery. So, in essence, when we observe, or partake in the festivals of the heathen, we are partaking in sorcery. Throughout the word, both idolatry and sorcery/witchcraft are intermingled together. Often times in pagan religions, drugs were taken to enhance their experience in worship of their gods. However, physical drugs are not the only means to achieve a sense of euphoria. A person can experience a sense of euphoria through enchantments or spells, that give the person a drug-like induced state of mind.
Definition of enchanted
♦Gal 5:20The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity, and debauchery; 20idolatry and sorcery; hatred, discord, jealousy, and rage; rivalries, divisions, factions, 21and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
(20) Idolatry.–When the Christian is warned against idolatry, it is not, of course, systematic idolatry that is meant, but that occasional compliance with idolatrous customs–taking part in the idol feasts, or eating of things offered to idols–which he might easily be led into by his intercourse with his heathen neighbours.
Why do you think that a spirit of Christmas is explicitly expressed during the month of December? Or that people are getting into the “spirit” of Christmas?
1 Joh 4:1Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God. For many false prophets have gone out into the world.
When we partake in the customs/traditions of Christmas, we allow the spirit of Christmas into our lives, which is witchcraft. This is why for so many, breaking free of Christmas is so difficult, because the spirit of Christmas holds them captivated through their emotions and nostalgia.
Babylon’s sorceries are not limited to physical drugs, but also come through enchantments.
Rev 18:23And the light of a candle shall shine no more at all in thee; and the voice of the bridegroom and of the bride shall be heard no more at all in thee: for thy merchants were the great men of the earth; for by thy sorceries were all nations deceived. 24And in her was found the blood of prophets, and of saints, and of all that were slain upon the earth.
For by thy sorceries were all nations deceived – This is stated as a reason for the ruin that had come upon her. It is a common representation of papal Rome that she has deceived or deluded the nations of the earth (see the notes on Revelation 13:14), and no representation ever made accords more with facts as they have occurred. The word “sorceries” here refers to the various arts the tricks impostures, and false pretences by which this has been done. See the notes on Revelation 9:21.
Every year not only are Protestants coming home to the Catholic church for Christmas, but the whole world.
Rev 18:4Then I heard another voice from heaven say: “Come out of her, My people, so that you will not share in her sins or contract any of her plagues. 5For her sins are piled up to heaven, and God has remembered her iniquities.
You could not of written a better description of where the christ-mass has originated, along with how you have covered witchcraft and to try the spirit’s to see if they be of God. Sadly with the hustle and bustle of this time of year seldom do people stop and question why their doing what their doing. You have covered so much truth here and instead of addressing it all I will say THANK YOU FOR THIS! May God Bless and Keep You Always Close in His Care.

**“ Every year not only are Protestants coming home to the Catholic church for Christmas, but the whole world. ”~EXACTLY!! Many , many so called “Protestants “ do not SEE this!
**That was another thing the Good Lord opened my eyes too as He brought me out of the practice of RC!! 🙌🙏🏻❤️
You are welcome, Beth! Yes, you are correct. Even apart from the different practices from different pagan cultures, knowing that the very name Christ-Mass is Catholic in origin you would think would make people question it. However, most people don’t want to challenge why they do what they do, or even if it is pleasing to Yah/God. Nor do they have any clue about the catholic church because of the ecumenicalism rampant within. I have a lot more respect for those though, who may not know the truth about Christmas, but try to only honor Jesus at that time apart from all the paganism. It was crazy to me that initially we were trying to defend that it’s about Jesus when we were so attacked by our church on the issue of Santa. As I mentioned in my blog/testimony it became the catapult that led us to begin to question if this even had anything to do with Jesus to begin with. I am glad to hear that the Holy Spirit has opened your eyes to the truth and also coming out of the RCC. Blessings to you! ~Kellie
Thank you! 🙏🏻❤️🙌
You’re welcome! 🙂
Thank you Beth for your words of wisdom and truth . We haven’t celebrated Christmas now going on seven years yet every year that spirit tries to come back . The scriptures says once you clean your house that spirit will return and bring several other spirits and your house will be worse than before. May YAH bless and keep you safe .
