In the book of Rev(ch 8) it talks of a third of the waters becoming “wormwood”, and many men dying. Wormwood is interpreted as “intense bitterness”, so are we looking for literal waters that are becoming bitter, or rather waters becoming bitter from within our own heart? Is it also perhaps a curse that comes upon us when we walk according to our own ways?
We are all liken to clay earthen vessels. A vessel is used for a great many things, one of the things it is made for, is to hold water.
Depending on the water source, what is poured into the vessel, will also be poured out. For those who have been crucified with Messiah, partake in the Living Water, and out of them should flow the Spirit.
However, within earthen vessels, it is also possible for a pure water source to be poured into it, but becomes contaminated, due to bitter waters dwelling already within it. It is one thing to be a poured out offering and to pour into others; however, what is being poured out from another to another, should be the same water source; the same Spirit.
Bitter or contaminated waters will defile any pure water, thus contaminating the vessel:
Hebrews 12:15See to it that no one falls short of the favour of Elohim, that NO ROOT OF BITTERNESS SPRINGING UP causes trouble, by which many become defiled,
Back in May of 2016, I was reading the book of Jeremiah and came across some interesting revelation:
Last night 24 May, I read the following Scripture passage (all Scripture I am using is from the ISR 98), and the following words immediately struck me in bold:
Jer 8:14Why are we sitting still? Gather yourselves, and let us go into the walled cities, and let us be silent there. For יהוה our Elohim has let us perish and GIVEN US POISONED WATER TO DRINK, because we have sinned against יהוה(YHWH).
So, I start really pondering on this and about people being made to drink poisoned water because of sinning against YHWH, and immediately the Spirit of Yah leads me back to the idolatry committed at Mt. Sinai, and what Moses made the people drink:
Ex 32:20And he took the calf which they had made, and burned it in the fire, and ground it into powder, and scattered it on the face of the water and made the children of Yisra’ĕl drink it. 21And Mosheh said to Aharon, “What did this people do to you that you have brought so great a sin upon them?”
So, I am reading this and I am thinking wow, I have read over this passage before, however reading it again as the Spirit was leading, it really just stuck out at me; also knowing that this entire event is extremely important and significant. As I was starting to see it in new light, the Spirit led me to the book of Revelation:
Rev 8:10And the third messenger sounded, and a great star fell from the heaven, burning like a torch, and it fell on a third of the rivers and on the FOUNTAINS OF WATER, 11and the name of the star is called Wormwood. And a third of the WATERS BECAME WORMWOOD, and MANY MEN DIED FROM THE WATERS, BECAUSE THEY WERE MADE BITTER.
Now, I believe that this passage is far more of spiritual understanding then what is taught and the Word interprets the Word. However, during this time Yah keeps impressing on me about ‘bitter waters’ and then brings me back to Jeremiah focusing on the tongue:
Jer 9:3“And they bend their tongue like a bow. Falsehood, and not truth, prevails on the earth. For they proceed from evil to evil, and they have not known Me,” declares יהוה(YHWH).
So, when we bend the tongue like a bow, then our words become fiery darts, when you shoot a fiery dart depending on what it lands on a fire can be spawned. As I am thinking of this the Spirit brings me immediately to the Book of James, and I am going to break this down a little, however let me touch on a few points before I do:
The book of James for the most part speaks of bridling the tongue, as well as what we speak is greatly forthcoming of what is already within our heart. Corruption within the heart that brings forth what the mouth speaks is in correlation to:
Mathew 12:34“Brood of adders! How are you able to speak what is good – being wicked? For the mouth speaks from the overflow of the heart.
Now notice it speaks of an ‘overflow’, and overflow of what?
A fountain.
You have two rivers that can flow through a man, one is a river of life, the other is the river of death. The two cannot cross contaminate, and when they do, the wicked is brought forth from a man.
Mathew 12:35“The good man brings forth what is good from the good treasures of his heart, and the wicked man brings forth what is wicked from the wicked treasure.
We see this again in:
Luke 6:45“The good man brings forth what is good out of the good treasure of his heart, and the wicked man brings forth what is wicked out of the wicked treasure of his heart. For out of the overflow of the heart his mouth speaks.
So, now let me go into the book of James, concerning our mouth and tongue:
James3:4Look at the ships too: although they are so big and are driven by strong winds, they are turned by a very small rudder wherever the pilot intends. 5So too the tongue is a little member, yet boasts greatly. See how a little fire kindles a great forest!
6And the tongue is a fire, the world of unrighteousness. Among our members the tongue is set, the one defiling the entire body, and setting on fire the wheel of life, and it is set on fire by Gehenna.
When our tongue is not tamed, and being fueled by contaminated waters, it can fire words that become fiery darts that can kindle an entire forest. It is set ablaze.
Now, in spiritual warfare the weapons that we fight with are not carnal, but spiritual and mighty, for bringing down strongholds and vain imaginations, and with the armor of Yah we can quench the fiery darts of the enemy with our Shield of Faith, and more often times than not those fiery darts are coming through the words of another, however we do not fight against flesh and blood, but the powers in the heavenly realms, against principalities. (Eph 6:10-17)
Back to James:
James 3:7For every kind of beast and bird, of reptile and creature of the sea, is tamed and has been tamed by mankind. 8But no man is able to tame the tongue. It is unruly, evil, filled with deadly poison.
When I had got to verse 8, that is highlighted, Yah brought me back to Jeremiah and followed up with this verse:
Jer 9:8“Their tongue is an arrow shot out. It speaks deceit – speaks peaceably to his neighbour with his mouth, but in his heart he sets his ambush
In the heart an ambush is set cursing his neighbor. Let’s think about that and go back to James:
James 3:9With it we bless our Elohim and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in the likeness of Elohim. 10Out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing. My brothers, this should not be so.11Does the fountain send forth the sweet and the bitter from the same opening?
Can what is poured out of a vessel be both bitter and sweet? Or does the overflow of bitterness contaminate whatever would have been sweet?
James 3:12My brothers, is a fig tree able to bear olives, or a grapevine figs? So neither is a fountain able to make salt and sweet water.
A fountain of living water(pure, clean) cannot be cross contaminated with salt water, because if it does, the whole fountain becomes bitter, does not a little leaven, leaven a whole lump? (1 Cor 5:6)
James 3:13Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show by his good behaviour his works in meekness of wisdom. 14But if you have bitter jealousy and self-seeking in your hearts, do not boast against and lie against the truth. 15This is not the wisdom coming down from above, but it is earthly, unspiritual, demonic.16For where jealousy and self-seeking are, there is confusion and every foul deed.
If there is bitter jealousy or self seeking in a persons heart it leads to confusion and every foul deed, and out of the fountain of the heart the mouth will overflow, bringing about fiery darts and poisoned arrows.
James 3:17But the wisdom from above is first clean, then peaceable, gentle, ready to obey, filled with compassion and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy. 18And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.
The wisdom from above first comes from the clean waters, the living water, Yeshua. Through the Spirit producing and bringing forth the fruit of the Spirit which come forth as sweet.
The very last passage that the Spirit of Yah brought me to was back where I had started in Jeremiah, with the following chapter:
Jer 9:13And יהוה says, “Because they have forsaken My Torah which I set before them, and have not obeyed My voice, nor walked according to it, 14but they have walked according to the stubbornness of their own heart and after the Ba‛als, which their fathers had taught them.” 15Therefore thus said יהוה of hosts, the Elohim of Yisra’ĕl, “See, I am making this people EAT WORMWOOD, and I SHALL MAKE THEM DRINK POISONED WATER.
The Word of Yah interprets the Word, and Wormwood means bitter, bitterness. This brings me not only back to what I mentioned above concerning the passage in revelation but also to the beginning of the account in exodus. Because YHWH’s people at Mt. Sinai decided to walk according to their own ways and worshiped the idol of the golden calf, Baal, YHWH had Moses make them partake in the bitter waters physically and they were placed under a curse.
This is also a spiritual representation that when we walk according to our own ways, when we worship idols, when we lust after the flesh, we spiritually corrupt ourselves, partaking also in bitter waters.
Deut 29: 18lest there should be among you a man or woman or clan or tribe, WHOSE HEART TURNS AWAY TODAY from יהוה (YHWH/LORD) our Elohim, to go and serve the mighty ones of these nations, LEST THERE SHOULD BE AMONG YOU A ROOT BEARING BITTERNESS OR WORMWOOD.
As I mentioned earlier you have two rivers that can flow through a man, one is a river of life, the other is the river of death. The two cannot cross contaminate, and when they do, the wicked is brought forth from a man, and while Yah may not have us partake in physical bitter water, we can however partake in spiritual bitter water, which can lead to spiritual death; a far more greater consequence. Bitterness, is a sin that corrupts the heart and the soul and leads to physical and spiritual decay. Bitterness defiles the entire body, soul and spirit; springing up wells of offense, resentment, unforgiveness, anger, hatred, violence and murder.
Hebrews 12:15See to it that no one falls short of the favour of Elohim, THAT NO ROOT OF BITTERNESS SPRINGING UP causes trouble, by which MANY BECOME DEFILED,
So, is it so far of a stretch to say that while many partake in the cup of demons they are also partaking in the bitter waters that their own heart has set forth to provide? What type of water are you bringing forth from your heart and your vessel? Is it sweet or is it bitter? Are you partaking in the curse of wormwood, and drinking poisoned water? What kind of drink offering are you providing, and what are you pouring into others?
